Skydiving Couple Arrives at Wedding Ceremony by Jumping Out of Plane

Mike Missroon and Megan Walsh took the phrase “take the plunge” to a whole new level when they skydived into their wedding ceremony from 14,000 feet.

The professional skydivers jumped from a plane over Seneca Lake in upstate New York on July 26, joined by members of their wedding party and their officiant. They reached speeds of about 120 mph before landing and continuing with their wedding ceremony on the ground.

A Wedding Like No Other

Walsh wore a wedding dress she had modified herself so she could safely wear her skydiving equipment underneath. She even carried a bouquet during the jump.

After landing, the couple exchanged vows in the landing zone, with their officiant reading a passage from the United States Parachute Association's Skydiver's Information Manual before officially pronouncing them husband and wife.

Their Love Story Started in the Sky

Skydiving has been part of the couple's relationship from the very beginning.

Missroon and Walsh first met during a tandem skydive, when Missroon was Walsh's instructor. They later got engaged during another jump in 2024.

Today, the couple owns and operates Skydive Seneca Lake, where they help others learn the sport and earn their skydiving licenses.

From First Jump to “I Do”

Rather than simply incorporating skydiving into their wedding, the couple decided to make the jump the beginning of their ceremony.

For two people whose relationship began in the sky, their unconventional wedding was a fitting way to celebrate their love story—literally taking their first leap as husband and wife.
