THIS is what investors should keep their eyes on

Alicia Levine says investors should watch policy uncertainty, tariffs, and how geopolitical conflict affects market volatility, rather than reacting to every headline. She also says the bigger issue is the rate of change in policy, because markets can handle bad news better than constant uncertainty.

What to watch

Levine pointed to tariffs and trade deficits as key pressure points, and said those factors were part of why BNY Wealth lowered its S&P 500 forecast and raised recession odds only modestly, to 25 percent. She also noted that investors should pay attention to sectors and assets that tend to hold up better when inflation and policy swings stay elevated.

Her market view

Despite the noise, she said she still believes the U.S. can get through the current period without a recession. In earlier commentary, Levine has emphasized staying invested, diversification, and not letting short-term panic drive long-term decisions.
