Prince Harry to Move His Family Back to UK After 6 Years in US

Six years after leaving the United Kingdom and establishing a new life in California, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly preparing to move back to Britain with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expected to relocate later this month and make the U.K. their primary base, while continuing to keep their home in Montecito, California. They will reportedly live in a private residence outside London rather than returning to a royal property.
Archie and Lilibet to Start School in Britain
A major factor in the family's move is reportedly the children's education.
Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, are expected to begin attending school in the United Kingdom in September. This will mark their first regular school experience in Britain after spending their early childhood in California.
The decision represents a significant change for the family, which has primarily lived in Southern California since 2020.
Montecito Home Will Remain
Despite establishing Britain as their primary base, Harry and Meghan are reportedly keeping their Montecito home.
The couple also maintains a property in Portugal, giving the family homes on both sides of the Atlantic.
Their return to Britain therefore appears to be a relocation of their primary base rather than a complete departure from their life in the United States.
No Return to Working Royal Duties
The move does not mean Harry and Meghan are returning as working members of the royal family.
They will continue to remain non-working royals and are not expected to resume official royal duties. Their new home will also be a private residence rather than a royal estate.
A New Chapter for the Sussex Family
Harry and Meghan stepped back from their roles as senior working royals in 2020 before relocating to California.
Their return to Britain comes after years of strained relationships with members of the royal family, although Harry has recently spent more time in the U.K. and has continued efforts to maintain a relationship with his father, King Charles III.
The move could give the family more opportunities to spend time with relatives while allowing Archie and Lilibet to experience more of their father's home country.
For now, the Sussexes appear poised to begin a new chapter in Britain while maintaining strong ties to their life in California.
