Alleged “Tomb-Raiding” Family Trio Arrested After Multistate Cemetery Theft Investigation

Three people accused of targeting cemeteries and stealing jewelry and family heirlooms from mausoleums across multiple states have been arrested following a nationwide search.

Authorities identified the suspects as Drake Lee Milam, 33; his girlfriend, Porsche Bancroft, 32; and Bancroft’s mother, Angela Garrett, 52. Investigators say the Indianapolis-area trio targeted cemetery niches containing cremated remains and took valuables left behind by grieving families.

Alleged Multistate Cemetery Theft Spree

According to the Orange County Sheriff's Office in Florida, investigators believe the trio targeted cemeteries in at least nine states, including Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Minnesota, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Texas and New York. Florida detectives alone are investigating approximately 20 cases.

Authorities say the suspects allegedly entered mausoleums and broke into niches where families had placed urns containing their loved ones' cremated remains.

Investigators say valuables—including necklaces, bracelets, watches, jewelry and other sentimental items—were taken from the niches. Surveillance footage reportedly captured some of the alleged thefts.

All Three Suspects Arrested

After authorities initially issued warrants and searched for the suspects across the country, all three have now been arrested.

According to authorities, Garrett and Milam were arrested in Indianapolis, while Bancroft surrendered at a Seminole County jail in Florida.

The three face multiple charges, including injuring or removing a tomb or monument, disturbing the contents of a grave or tomb, and grand theft of more than $20,000. Bancroft has reportedly posted bond and was released from jail.

Authorities Warn There Could Be More Victims

Investigators believe the number of victims could be much larger than currently known.

Authorities are asking families who have not recently visited a loved one's mausoleum or cemetery niche to check whether any personal belongings left there are still in place.

Anyone who discovers missing property is encouraged to contact local law enforcement.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to identify additional victims and determine the full scope of the alleged cemetery theft operation.

All three suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
