“Fake hair, real bump”
After showing off her baby bump at the Los Angeles premiere of The End of Oak Street, Hathaway found herself at the center of online conspiracy theories claiming her pregnancy belly was fake.
Rather than getting into a lengthy explanation, the Oscar winner responded with a playful Instagram post featuring a behind-the-scenes video from her red-carpet preparations.
Her caption said it all:
“Fake hair, real bump.”
She made the bump impossible to miss
Hathaway, 43, wore a dramatic crop top and low-rise jeans that fully exposed her growing belly at the premiere on Aug. 9.
The bold maternity look quickly went viral, but some social-media users bizarrely questioned whether the bump was authentic.
Baby No. 3
Hathaway is expecting her third child with husband Adam Shulman. The couple already shares two sons, Jonathan, 10, and Jack, 6.
She announced the pregnancy in June, sharing a video in which she revealed her baby bump.
A playful response to the trolls
Instead of allowing the speculation to overshadow her pregnancy, Hathaway appeared to laugh it off. Her “fake hair, real bump” response quickly became the perfect comeback to the online rumors.
She has also spoken about how different this pregnancy feels compared with her previous experiences of becoming a mother in her 30s.
Bottom line
Anne Hathaway isn't letting internet conspiracy theories ruin her pregnancy glow. After critics questioned whether her baby bump was real, the actress answered in the simplest—and funniest—way possible: the hair may be fake, but the bump is real.
