Usha Vance recently spoke about launching a new podcast, her pregnancy, and what life is like as the second lady in a wide-ranging interview. She said the pregnancy is going well and is different from her previous three, partly because her role now requires a much more formal public schedule.

In the NBC interview, Vance introduced her new podcast and talked about wanting to encourage young readers. The coverage also notes that she is the first second lady in U.S. history to host a podcast, which adds to the attention around her public image.

Pregnancy update

Usha and Vice President J.D. Vance announced in January that they were expecting their fourth child, a boy due in July. NBC reported that she joked she learned some of the historical significance only after becoming pregnant, when she found out she would be the first person to give birth while a spouse is vice president in more than a century.

Life as second lady

She also discussed the adjustment from a more private life to one filled with formal events, public scrutiny, and White House obligations. One report says she described this pregnancy as quite different from the last three because she no longer spends her days in sweatpants working from home.
