Teenage girls were planning mass shooting at school, police say
Two 15-year-old girls have been arrested on suspicion of planning a mass shooting at Corona High School in Southern California, according to police. Investigators say the teenagers spent months researching school shootings and discussing how they could carry out an attack on the campus.
The investigation began on October 6, 2026, after the FBI alerted the Corona Police Department to concerning social media communications involving a potential threat to the school. The information prompted local and federal authorities to work together to investigate the alleged plot.
One suspect was a student at Corona High School. Detectives later identified a second suspect, who attended Norco High School, as allegedly being involved.
Investigators Uncover Months of Alleged Planning
According to the Corona Police Department, investigators examined electronic devices, online communications and other evidence while executing search warrants at several homes in Riverside County.
Police said the evidence indicated that the two teenagers had spent several months researching school shootings and discussing how they could carry out an attack at Corona High School on an unspecified future date.
Investigators also found communications in which the girls allegedly discussed ways to obtain weapons. Authorities said the suspects had not yet obtained the weapons and that no weapons were found during the searches.
Police have not publicly identified the teenagers, citing their status as juveniles.
Both Suspects Remain in Custody
Both girls remain in custody on charges of conspiracy to commit murder. The Riverside County District Attorney’s Office is reviewing the case, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Authorities have not confirmed a specific date for the alleged attack or publicly established a motive. Additional details may emerge as investigators continue examining the evidence.
The investigation involved the Corona Police Department, the FBI, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office and the Corona-Norco Unified School District.
Authorities Urge Students and Parents to Report Threats
The case highlights the role that reports of concerning online activity can play in preventing potential violence. Police are urging parents, students and community members to report threats or suspicious behavior rather than dismissing them.
Anyone with information about the case can contact Corona Police Department Detective George Edwards at (951) 279-3656.
