Teen Mom's Jenelle Evans SOBS Revealing She Can No Longer Walk Due to 'Excruciating Pain'
The 34-year-old reality star became emotional in a recent Instagram update, telling followers that she is experiencing debilitating pain nearly every day and feels frustrated after months of worsening symptoms.
“I still cannot walk,” Evans said, explaining that she continues to rely on crutches while dealing with severe pain.
Her Health Problems Began After Knee Surgery
Evans said her latest health problems began after she suffered a leg injury in April 2026 and underwent surgery on her left knee.
When her leg failed to improve as expected, Evans said her surgeon diagnosed her with complex regional pain syndrome, or CRPS, a chronic pain condition that can develop following an injury or surgery.
She was subsequently referred to a pain management clinic. Evans said she received a steroid injection in her lower back roughly two weeks ago, but instead of providing relief, she experienced significantly worse pain afterward.
'Excruciating' Pain From Her Skull to Her Tailbone
Evans said the worsening symptoms eventually sent her to the hospital, where she underwent an MRI.
“I am literally in pain from the base of my skull to my tailbone,” she said.
According to Evans, the scan showed that a syrinx — a fluid-filled cyst within the spinal cord — had grown from about two millimeters in 2022 to nearly four millimeters. She also said doctors found another cyst near her spinal cord.
Evans said doctors had previously told her to monitor the syrinx because of the potential neurological complications if it continued to grow. She now believes the condition may be contributing to her current symptoms.
She said she expects to be referred to specialists, including a neurologist and potentially a neurosurgeon, as doctors determine what should happen next.
CRPS Has Made Everyday Activities Painful
Evans says the pain has affected even basic parts of her daily routine.
She explained that she has difficulty walking with crutches because of the additional back pain. She also said her CRPS has caused extreme sensitivity in her leg, making activities such as swimming and even taking a shower painful.
According to the Mayo Clinic, CRPS is a form of chronic pain that most often affects an arm or leg and can develop after an injury or surgery. Symptoms can include severe pain and sensitivity to touch or temperature.
'This Is Probably the Hardest Thing'
Beyond the physical pain, Evans said the situation has begun affecting her mental health.
She described watching other people enjoy their summer and holidays while she remains largely confined to her home because of her symptoms.
“I literally have been feeling so hopeless lately,” Evans said.
She also revealed that she is seeing a therapist and has been talking openly with her about the emotional impact of her condition. Evans specifically reassured followers that she is receiving support and said she was not in danger of harming herself.
Evans Is Asking for Understanding
Evans acknowledged that she has faced health problems in the past, including previous discussions about fibromyalgia and possible myasthenia gravis. Her latest diagnosis and spinal findings, however, have left her searching for answers while dealing with significant physical limitations.
For now, Evans says she is focused on working with her doctors and pain specialists to determine the next steps.
“This is probably the hardest thing I've ever been through in my life,” she said, adding that she is accustomed to eventually feeling better but has not experienced that improvement this time.
Her emotional update has also brought renewed attention to the challenges of living with chronic pain — and the importance of seeking both medical and mental-health support when a condition begins affecting every part of daily life.
