Rick Springfield, 77, Flaunts SHREDDED ABS
The “Jessie’s Girl” singer, who turned 77 on August 23, recently took the stage shirtless at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, where he performed his iconic 1981 hit while showing off an impressively toned physique.
Videos from the performance quickly made their way across social media, leaving fans stunned by Springfield’s energy and appearance. Many joked that the longtime rocker appears to have found the fountain of youth.
The Rocker’s Fitness Routine
Springfield has been open about the work he puts into staying fit.
In a 2025 interview with PEOPLE, he explained that he exercises every day — and his performances provide another major workout. Playing a full concert with his band can amount to roughly two hours of aerobic activity.
When he is on the road, Springfield also makes regular stops at Planet Fitness, joking that he and his band are frequent visitors.
His personal trainer, Larry Willis, has also revealed that their workouts include plenty of plyometrics, stair-climbing and athletic conditioning designed to help Springfield maintain the stamina required for his energetic performances.
It Starts in the Kitchen
Exercise isn't the only part of Springfield's approach to staying healthy.
The singer has described his diet as mostly pescatarian and said he avoids dairy and focuses on foods he considers less inflammatory. He occasionally eats meat but generally keeps his diet centered on healthier choices.
Springfield has also significantly reduced his alcohol consumption over the past several years, saying that cutting back became a natural part of getting older and taking better care of himself.
His morning routine has reportedly included eggs or egg whites and a protein shake, while he stays hydrated with water and tea throughout the day.
Still Bringing the Rock 'n' Roll
Springfield's physique isn't the only thing drawing attention. At 77, he continues to perform regularly and remains active on tour.
The Australian-born rocker rose to international fame in the early 1980s with “Jessie’s Girl,” which became a No. 1 hit in the United States and earned him a Grammy Award for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance.
He also became well known to television audiences through his role as Dr. Noah Drake on General Hospital.
Springfield has said he doesn't necessarily feel his age. In a previous interview, he explained that he still feels young mentally and believes music — particularly rock music — helps keep him that way.
Fans Can't Believe He's 77
After footage of Springfield performing shirtless went viral, fans flooded social media with compliments and disbelief.
Some joked that he must have discovered a secret anti-aging formula, while others said they hoped they could look that fit when they reach their 70s.
For Springfield, however, staying active appears to be less about chasing youth and more about maintaining the energy to do what he loves.
At 77, he's still singing, playing guitar, touring and stepping onto the stage with the same rock-star attitude that made him famous more than four decades ago.
