RAYE Serves MAJOR Vocals on 'WHERE IS MY HUSBAND' Performance at 2026 VMAs
The British singer-songwriter delivered her VMAs performance debut on Sunday, Sept. 27, opening with an emotional portion of “I Will Overcome” before seamlessly transitioning into her fan-favorite hit “WHERE IS MY HUSBAND!”
With a live band, strings and backup singers surrounding her, RAYE turned the Peacock Theater stage into a full-scale showcase of her powerful vocals and theatrical style.
From White Fur to Red Hot
RAYE began the performance wrapped in a dramatic floor-length white fur coat as violinists played around her.
Then came the transformation.
She dropped the coat to reveal a sparkling red dress before launching into “WHERE IS MY HUSBAND!” with a full band behind her. RAYE performed the song barefoot, leaning into the vintage-inspired glamour and larger-than-life energy of the moment.
The performance also featured a playful nod to “Funkytown” and a recorded message from RAYE’s grandmother encouraging her to be patient in her search for love.
The Crowd Was on Its Feet
By the time RAYE reached the biggest moments of “WHERE IS MY HUSBAND!,” the audience was fully engaged.
Her performance showcased the range that has become central to her live shows, moving from the reflective opening of “I Will Overcome” into the bold, energetic sound of her hit.

A Big Night for RAYE
The performance came during a major moment in RAYE’s career.
The 28-year-old singer was nominated for two VMAs this year, including Song of the Year for “WHERE IS MY HUSBAND!” She also recently released her sophomore album, This Music May Contain Hope, and has been touring extensively.
Her VMAs appearance also wasn't her only performance of the night. RAYE later joined Sombr, Teddy Swims and Adam Lambert for the show's tribute to the late George Michael.
