At just 6 years old, Alec Van Khajadourian is already adding another major accomplishment to an extraordinary musical journey.

The young piano prodigy is releasing a new album, marking another milestone just one year after he made headlines as one of the youngest musicians ever to perform at New York’s Carnegie Hall. ABC News correspondent Danny New recently caught up with Alec to see how far the young pianist has come since that memorable performance.

From Carnegie Hall to the Recording Studio

Alec performed at Carnegie Hall in July 2025, when he was just 5 years old. The performance quickly became one of the defining moments of his young career, placing him among the youngest pianists to take the stage at the legendary concert hall.

But Alec's ambitions didn't stop there.

He has continued developing his skills and performing for audiences while working on new recordings. His latest album represents a new chapter for the young musician, giving listeners an opportunity to experience his playing beyond the concert stage.

A Talent That Started Very Young

Alec's musical abilities emerged remarkably early. According to Kawai, he was born with perfect pitch and began exploring the piano before he could even walk. By age 4, he was already performing classical works by composers including Bach and Beethoven.

In 2025, he also won first place in multiple international music competitions and made his debut at Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. That same year, he recorded his debut EP, titled “5,” featuring classical pieces that reflected his growing musical range.

Now, a New Album at 6

His latest release continues a creative tradition that appears to be growing alongside him. The young pianist has now followed his debut EP with a second album titled “6,” a project named for the milestone age he has reached.

The release comes as Alec continues to attract attention well beyond the classical music community. His performances have been featured by major media outlets, while videos of his playing have reached millions of viewers online.

For most 6-year-olds, learning a new song can be an accomplishment. For Alec Van Khajadourian, the year has included Carnegie Hall memories, major performances and now a new album.

And if his rapid rise is any indication, this may only be the beginning of his musical story.
