Party City makes a comeback with Staples

Party City is making a comeback by moving into more than 700 Staples stores nationwide and on Staples.com, instead of reopening its old standalone shops. The partnership is rolling out just in time for graduation season and is expected to expand to more locations by the end of 2026.

What’s changing

Customers will be able to buy balloons, décor, tableware, gift bags, and other celebration supplies inside Staples, alongside office and print services. That makes the setup a one-stop shop for birthdays, graduations, and other events.

Why this matters

Party City shut down its remaining stores after bankruptcy, so this is a lower-cost way to rebuild its footprint without starting from scratch. Staples benefits too, because the added party goods may bring in more foot traffic and boost sales on services like printing and signage.
