The family of Nolan Wells, the 18-year-old whose death remains under investigation, has announced funeral arrangements while emphasizing that they want the day to honor his life rather than focus solely on grief.

Funeral arrangements

According to Nolan's mother, Christine Wonsley:

• Visitation: Monday, July 20, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

• Funeral service: Immediately afterward at Center Pointe Church.

• Celebration of Life: Following the service, family and friends are invited to gather at the Jackson County Fairgrounds.

"He would want us to celebrate"

Speaking at a news conference, Christine Wonsley said:

"We want to celebrate Nolan. He would not want us to be sitting around crying."

She explained that the gathering afterward will be more like a celebration of Nolan's life, welcoming relatives, friends, and many of his former football teammates. She also asked supporters to keep any demonstrations peaceful, saying Nolan "would never want any type of violence."

Ongoing investigation

The funeral announcement comes as authorities and Nolan's family continue separate investigations into his death. The official cause of death has not yet been finalized pending additional forensic findings, while the family has commissioned an independent autopsy.
