NFL Reporter Crissy Froyd Fired Over Dianna Russini, Mike Vrabel Comments

Crissy Froyd was fired by USA Today Sports after posting comments criticizing Dianna Russini and Mike Vrabel on social media, which the company said did not meet its standards of professionalism and ethical conduct. Froyd said she was “beyond distraught” and argued that another reporter made similar comments without facing the same consequence.

What sparked it

The controversy grew after Russini resigned from The Athletic following scrutiny over photos with Vrabel, and Froyd responded by accusing Russini of lying and implying she would have been fired if she hadn’t resigned first. Froyd’s post said, “Don’t let the door hit you on the way out,” and accused Russini of hurting women in sports journalism.

What USA Today said

USA Today Sports said Froyd’s remarks were inconsistent with the organization’s principles and ended her contractor agreement immediately. Froyd, for her part, told E! News she was shocked by the decision and felt singled out for making one comment.
