Kelly Osbourne Says She Looked Like the "Crypt Keeper" After Ozzy Osbourne's Death
Updated: 5 days ago
In a candid interview, the 41-year-old television personality revealed that she lost a significant amount of weight while grieving her father’s death in July 2025. What frightened her most, however, was that she didn't fully realize how much her appearance had changed until she saw a photograph of herself months later.
“I looked like the f--king Crypt Keeper,” Kelly said, describing the moment she finally understood what friends and family had been seeing.
“I Didn’t Know I Looked Like This”
Kelly explained that her grief affected her appetite so severely that eating became difficult. She was so consumed by the loss that she became disconnected from the physical changes happening to her body.
Her friends and family had expressed concern, but Kelly said she was unable to see what they were seeing.
The realization came while she was preparing for the 2026 Grammy Awards, where she joined her mother, Sharon Osbourne, and brother, Jack Osbourne, for a tribute honoring Ozzy’s legacy. During a fitting, Kelly saw a photograph of herself and was shocked by how thin she looked.
“I was scared,” she recalled, acknowledging that she had not been in a healthy emotional or physical place at the time.
Why Kelly Wore a Wig at the Grammys
Kelly also revealed that she deliberately used her styling choices to hide how much weight she had lost.
She wore a wig at the Grammys because she was particularly self-conscious about how prominent her cheekbones had become. She also worked with her styling team to choose clothing that would draw less attention to her frame.
The Grammy appearance was especially emotional because the event was connected directly to her father’s legacy. Ozzy died at age 76 after suffering cardiac arrest and complications related to his health.
Looking back, Kelly now admits she may not have been well enough to attend.
A Year of Grief and Major Life Changes
The loss of Ozzy wasn't the only major change Kelly experienced.
She also went through the end of her relationship with Sid Wilson in 2026. The former couple share their young son, Sidney, adding another layer of responsibility as Kelly tried to navigate her grief while being a mother.
Kelly has previously described the period following her father's death as incredibly difficult, saying that the person she was before Ozzy's death no longer exists. She has also spoken about the importance of having supportive people around her as she slowly works through the grieving process.
Kelly Says She’s Getting Help
Despite the difficult months, Kelly says she is now receiving the help she needs and is focused on healing.
Rather than hiding the experience, she hopes to use it to help other people who are struggling with grief and mental-health challenges.
Kelly is developing a three-part documentary series centered on grief and mental health, where she plans to share more about what she experienced after losing her father. Her goal is to show others that grief can affect both the mind and body — and that asking for help is an important part of recovery.
Remembering Ozzy While Moving Forward
For Kelly, healing doesn't mean leaving her father behind.
Ozzy Osbourne, the legendary Black Sabbath frontman and one of rock music's most recognizable figures, died in July 2025 at age 76. His death marked the end of an era for his family as well as generations of fans who had followed his career.
Now, Kelly is trying to find a way to honor his memory while rebuilding her own life.
Her decision to speak openly about the physical effects of grief also highlights something she says she didn't understand at the time: sometimes, the people suffering the most may not recognize just how much they are struggling until someone helps them see it.
For Kelly, that realization became a turning point — and she says she is now focused on getting better, processing her loss and using her experience to help others do the same.
