Issaquah Costco employee accused of killing coworker in jealous rage, police say

A deadly workplace dispute in Issaquah, Washington, has led to a murder charge after police say a Costco employee deliberately rammed his car into a coworker riding a motorcycle.

What happened?

According to police and court documents, 22-year-old Tyler Sorensen allegedly became enraged after seeing his 20-year-old coworker, Jonathon Langdon, hug a female colleague in the Costco parking lot.

Investigators say Sorensen followed Langdon after he left the property and intentionally swerved his vehicle into Langdon's motorcycle. Langdon crashed into a metal signpost and died at the scene.

Police say jealousy was behind the attack

Authorities allege Sorensen believed he had a romantic relationship with the female coworker, although she reportedly told investigators they were just friends and that she had previously told Sorensen he was crossing boundaries.

Following the crash, investigators say Sorensen acknowledged deliberately hitting Langdon but claimed he intended only to scare him—not kill him.

Murder charge

Sorensen has been charged with second-degree murder and has pleaded not guilty. He remains in custody with $2 million bail.

His next court appearance is scheduled for August 27.

A tragedy that began with a workplace interaction

The case has drawn attention because what authorities describe as a moment of jealousy between coworkers allegedly escalated into a fatal act of violence.

The investigation and legal proceedings are ongoing, and the allegations against Sorensen have not been proven in court.

Bottom line

Police say a Costco employee's jealousy over a female coworker's interaction with another employee escalated into a deadly confrontation. Jonathon Langdon, 20, was killed after authorities say Tyler Sorensen deliberately rammed his motorcycle. Sorensen is now facing a second-degree murder charge and has pleaded not guilty.
