ICE agent charged with 2 counts of felony assault in Minneapolis

An ICE agent in Minnesota was charged with two counts of second-degree assault after prosecutors said he pointed a gun at the occupants of a car during a road-rage incident on a Minneapolis highway. The agent, identified as Gregory Donnell Morgan Jr., is facing a nationwide arrest warrant and could face up to seven years in prison on each count if convicted.

What prosecutors said

According to charging documents and local reporting, the confrontation happened on February 5 while Morgan was driving an unmarked SUV and allegedly used the shoulder of the highway to pass the other vehicle. Prosecutors said he then pointed a government-issued firearm at two people in the car.

Why it stands out

Officials in Hennepin County said this may be the first criminal case against a federal immigration agent tied to the Trump administration’s intensified enforcement efforts in the Twin Cities. The case has added attention because it comes amid broader scrutiny of federal immigration operations in Minnesota.

What happens next

Morgan is not currently in custody, and authorities say no surrender arrangement has been finalized. The next major step will be the court process tied to the arrest warrant and the felony assault charges.
