Human remains found linked to missing USF student; suspect charged in double killing

Human remains linked to a missing University of South Florida student have been identified, and investigators say the case has now become a double murder investigation. Authorities charged roommate Hisham Abugharbieh with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of Zamil Limon and Nahida Bristy.

What happened

Police say remains found on the Howard Frankland Bridge were identified as Zamil Limon, one of the two missing USF doctoral students. The search for Nahida Bristy continues, but investigators say the evidence now points to both students being victims of a double killing.

The suspect

Abugharbieh, who was Limon’s roommate, was arrested and later appeared in court on the murder charges. Prosecutors say he is being held without bail as the case moves forward.
