Florida dad stabs 17-year-old twins, kills self in murder-suicide: Deputies
Deputies with the Orange County Sheriff's Office discovered the three bodies on Sept. 30 while conducting a well-being check at a residence on Courtney Chase Circle in the Hunter's Creek area.
The teenagers were identified as Carlo Montiel Infantino and Melanie Montiel Infantino, both 17. Authorities said the twins were found in the living room with multiple stab wounds. Their father, Ivan Montiel Roa, was found dead elsewhere inside the home.
Investigators Believe Father Killed His Children
According to the Orange County Sheriff's Office, detectives currently believe Roa killed his two children before taking his own life.
“At this time, detectives believe Ivan murdered Carlo and Melanie and then committed suicide,” the Sheriff's Office said in a statement.
Authorities have not publicly released a motive or explained what may have happened inside the home before the deaths.
Deputies Were Conducting a Well-Being Check
The bodies were discovered after deputies were called to the home for a well-being check on Sept. 30.
When officers entered the residence, they found the twins deceased in the living room. Investigators said both had suffered multiple stab wounds.
Roa was subsequently found dead in another part of the home. Different local reports have described the location as a bathroom or master bathroom.
Officials have not said exactly when the deaths occurred.
A Family Left With Unanswered Questions
The circumstances surrounding the deaths remain under investigation, and authorities have released few additional details.
Investigators have not disclosed what prompted the well-being check, whether anyone else was inside the home or what led up to the fatal attack.
The absence of a known motive leaves those questions unanswered as detectives continue working to reconstruct the final hours of the family.
Investigation Remains Ongoing
The Orange County Sheriff's Office has not announced any additional suspects in the case. Because Roa is also dead, authorities are treating the incident as an apparent murder-suicide rather than an active search for a killer.
Officials are continuing to investigate the deaths and determine the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
For now, the focus remains on understanding what happened to Carlo and Melanie and what led their father to allegedly take their lives before ending his own.
