Families concerned over disappearance of 2 doctoral students: "It's very unusual"

Two University of South Florida doctoral students, Zamil Limon and Nahida Bristy, both from Bangladesh, were last seen on April 16 in Tampa, and police say they were reported missing the next day after a mutual acquaintance could not reach them. Family members have said the disappearance is very unusual, and investigators with USF police and the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office are actively searching multiple areas.

What police say

Authorities say Limon was last seen around 9 a.m. at his Tampa residence, while Bristy was last seen around 10 a.m. at the USF Tampa campus. The case is being treated as an active missing-person investigation, with detectives following leads in Hillsborough and Pinellas counties.

Why the family is worried

Relatives and friends say both students were in regular contact before they vanished, which is why the lack of communication has alarmed them. One report notes the family described the disappearance as out of character and very unusual.

What happens next

Police have asked the public for help, and anyone with information has been told to contact authorities. The search is still ongoing, and officials have not said whether foul play is suspected.
