Cardi B on Building an Empire for Her Kids, New Music and the Art of Her Clapbacks (Exclusive)
In a new conversation with ET's Kevin Frazier at Create & Cultivate in Los Angeles, the Grammy-winning rapper opened up about motherhood, business, music and learning when to step away from the online drama that has followed her throughout her career.
At 33, Cardi is already expanding beyond music with her Grow-Good Beauty haircare line, while making it clear that her ultimate goal is to build something her children can inherit.
Kulture Could Be the Future CEO
When it comes to who might eventually take over the family business, Cardi already has someone in mind.
The rapper named her 8-year-old daughter, Kulture, as the child she could see becoming the future CEO.
That vision isn't entirely hypothetical. Cardi has already described Kulture as entrepreneurial, and in a recent conversation with Complex, she said her daughter has her own makeup collection and enjoys creating her own looks. Cardi has also said that Grow-Good is a company Kulture could eventually own.
For Cardi, building a business is about creating a legacy that extends beyond her music career.
A Growing Family
Cardi is balancing those ambitions while raising four children: Kulture, Wave, Blossom and her youngest son, whom she shares with NFL player Stefon Diggs.
She has spoken about the sacrifices that come with being both a mother and a global entertainer, saying she wants her children to understand that the time she spends working is ultimately about creating a better life for them.
Her children have also increasingly become part of her business world. Kulture recently appeared in a commercial for Grow-Good, further blending Cardi's family life with the empire she is building.
She's Not Done With Music
While business and motherhood are major priorities, Cardi isn't walking away from music.
The rapper has already confirmed that she's working on her next album. She recently said she plans to devote serious time to recording after her birthday, revealing that she currently has two songs completed and wants to move quickly on the project.
She's also planning another major tour for 2027, with plans to take her show overseas, including Europe.
That means fans shouldn't expect Cardi to disappear from music anytime soon.
Taking a Step Back From the Clapbacks
Cardi's willingness to respond directly to critics has long been part of her public persona. But she's also learning that she doesn't have to answer everything.
During her conversation with ET, Cardi reflected on the drama that often surrounds her and joked about the situations that seem to follow her. At the same time, she acknowledged that she's become more selective about when she engages online.
That shift comes as Cardi enters a different stage of her career — one where she is juggling motherhood, entrepreneurship, touring and new music.
Building Something Her Kids Can Carry Forward
Cardi's ambitions now stretch well beyond another album or another chart-topping single.
With Grow-Good, she is developing a beauty business. With her children, she's thinking about family legacy. And with new music and a global tour ahead, she's continuing to build her career on her own terms.
For Cardi, the goal isn't simply to become a bigger star.
It's to create something her children can one day call their own.
