Brandi Glanville Preparing to Have ‘Fungal Ball’ Removed From Face After Years of Medical Mysteries
The former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, 53, recently shared emotional videos documenting what she describes as a hard “fungal ball” in her face. Fighting back tears, Glanville said she is desperate to have the mass removed.
“It’s hard as a rock,” she said while showing the affected area. “I’m so sick [of it]. I just want to cut it out of my face.”
A Medical Mystery That Began Years Ago
Glanville’s health struggles date back to 2023, when she began experiencing facial swelling and other unexplained symptoms after filming The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip in Morocco.
Over the following years, she said she consulted 21 doctors and spent more than $200,000 searching for an explanation. At different points, she was diagnosed with conditions including stress-induced angioedema and later reported painful lumps and swelling around her face and neck.
Glanville eventually began describing what she believed was a “parasite” affecting her face. In recent months, she has shared increasingly detailed updates about the treatments and tests she has undergone.
Glanville Reveals Several Diagnoses
In a Sept. 8 Instagram update, Glanville said she had finally received several diagnoses related to her ongoing condition.
She said doctors diagnosed her with highly resistant ESBL Klebsiella and Enterobacter with biofilm, coccidioidomycosis — commonly known as Valley Fever — Demodex dermatitis and mononucleosis.
She also said doctors identified the fungal mass in her face that now needs to be surgically removed.
Glanville said she will also need additional procedures, including removing metals from old dental work and addressing her breast implants.
She Says the Problem Has Spread
In another recent video, Glanville said what she has been describing as a facial parasite has now extended down her right arm.
“It used to only be here, but over the years that not being diagnosed properly, it has spread,” she said, pointing toward her face. “Now it goes down my right arm.”
She previously said she believed her health problems were connected to ruptured silicone breast implants. In February, she reported having the implants removed, but said her facial symptoms continued.
Glanville was also diagnosed earlier this year with a benign tumor in a facial lymph node, which she said doctors believed could be contributing to fluid moving around her face.
Treatment Has Taken Over Her Daily Life
Glanville has documented an intense treatment routine that includes long periods of intravenous medication.
She recently showed followers how she receives Imipenem, an antibiotic used to treat serious bacterial infections. She said she can spend as many as 18 hours a day undergoing IV treatment and has struggled to eat and maintain her normal routine.
She estimates that her treatment costs between $3,300 and $6,000 each month even with insurance, and said she expects another four to six months of daily IV treatment.
The financial and physical burden has also affected her ability to work. Glanville said that, for now, her podcast is essentially the only work she can manage.
'I Want My Life Back'
The reality star has been candid about how difficult it has been to share images of herself while dealing with the condition.
“I feel terrible and this is what being sick looks like for me right now,” she wrote in her Instagram update, asking followers to be compassionate as she continues treatment.
Glanville said she plans to share more about her treatments, upcoming surgeries and recovery as she moves forward.
For now, she is focused on finally getting the mass removed and finding a path back to the life she had before the unexplained health problems began.
“I just want this s--t OUT of my body,” she said. “I want my health back. I want my life back. I want to feel like me again.”
