Benjamin Satterley, the British professional wrestler known to fans as Pac in All Elite Wrestling and Neville in WWE, has died at the age of 40.

AEW announced Satterley’s death on Sept. 27, just hours after he competed at the company's All Out event near Chicago. No cause of death was initially released.

The sudden news stunned fans and fellow wrestlers, particularly because Satterley had been in the ring less than 24 hours before his death.

His Final Match

Satterley competed Saturday night at the NOW Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, wrestling under the name Pac.

He faced Andrade El Ídolo for the AEW National Championship and later appeared during the evening's main event as part of the Death Riders.

The following afternoon, Satterley was found unresponsive inside a vehicle outside a restaurant in nearby Des Plaines. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said he was pronounced dead at approximately 4:08 p.m.

Cause of Death Remains Unknown

Authorities have not announced what caused Satterley's death.

An autopsy has been performed, but the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said additional testing is needed and that results could take several weeks. Police have reportedly found no indication of foul play.

His death therefore remains under investigation, and no official cause should be assumed until the medical examiner releases its findings.

From Newcastle to WWE

Born in Newcastle upon Tyne, England, Satterley began his professional wrestling career in 2004 after training as a teenager.

He built a reputation around the world for his extraordinary athleticism and high-flying style, eventually becoming known by nicknames including “The Man That Gravity Forgot.”

He joined WWE in 2012 and performed under the name Adrian Neville, later shortened to Neville. During his WWE run, he became an NXT Champion, a two-time NXT Tag Team Champion and a two-time Cruiserweight Champion.

A Key Figure in AEW's Early Years

Satterley became one of AEW's first major signings in 2019.

During his time with the promotion, he became the inaugural AEW International Champion and a two-time AEW World Trios Champion, establishing himself as one of the company's standout performers.

AEW remembered him as a wrestler who captivated audiences with his innovative moves and exceptional in-ring ability.

Tributes Pour In

The wrestling community quickly began paying tribute to Satterley following the announcement.

Fellow wrestler Will Ospreay called him “the greatest export from our country” and described him as a hero and someone he was honored to have shared the ring with.

AEW President Tony Khan also remembered Satterley as a beloved husband and friend while praising his wrestling knowledge, athleticism, professionalism and dedication to the sport.

WWE also paid tribute to the former Neville during Monday Night Raw, while wrestler Penta honored him by wearing “Pac” on his wrestling boot.

A Legacy That Spanned the Globe

Satterley's career stretched across more than two decades and multiple major wrestling promotions.

From his beginnings in England to WWE and eventually AEW, he became known for a style that pushed the physical limits of professional wrestling.

Now, fans are remembering a performer who continued competing at the highest level until the very end of his career.

Benjamin Satterley was 40.
