1st look at Prince Harry, Meghan and kids since returning to the UK
Meghan shared a 35-second video on Instagram showing the family spending time outdoors together after returning to Britain last month. The footage features Harry and Meghan walking hand-in-hand, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet enjoying the countryside, and the family spending time fishing and playing outside.
The video was set to Wham!'s “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go” and included a Union Jack and red heart emoji.
Archie and Lilibet Embrace Life in Britain
The footage offers some of the rarest recent glimpses of the couple's children.
Seven-year-old Archie can be heard encouraging his five-year-old sister as she rides a bicycle, while another scene shows the children enjoying the outdoors in wellington boots. Harry is also seen fishing with the children.
The family returned to the U.K. from California on Aug. 26, with Archie and Lilibet beginning the new school year in Britain. A source close to the couple told PEOPLE that Harry and Meghan are “happy to be back” and are focused on helping their children settle into their new surroundings.
The family's exact residence and the children's school have not been publicly disclosed.
A New Chapter After Six Years in California
Harry and Meghan stepped away from their roles as senior working royals in 2020 and subsequently moved to the United States.
Their return to Britain does not represent a return to royal duties.
The couple continue to live as non-working members of the royal family, with their charitable activities conducted privately. Harry remains fifth in line to the throne, while Archie and Lilibet remain sixth and seventh, respectively.
King Charles Clarifies Their Status
The family's return came shortly before King Charles III's office issued an unusual formal clarification of Harry and Meghan's status.
In a letter sent to senior British officials, the King confirmed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex remain private citizens and are not returning as working members of the Royal Family.
Their HRH styles remain in abeyance and are not used, while their commercial interests and charitable work remain separate from the Royal Household.
The letter was released, according to the palace, to avoid confusion about the couple's position following their return.

The timing of the announcement reportedly caught Harry and Meghan off guard.
