TikTok stars Hannah and Shane Burcaw, better known online as Squirmy and Grubs, are preparing for their biggest chapter yet: becoming parents.

The couple announced that they are expecting their first child after years of openly documenting their struggles with infertility and unsuccessful IVF treatments. Hannah is now 20 weeks pregnant, with their baby due in January 2027.

A Long-Awaited Pregnancy Announcement

Hannah and Shane shared the news on Sept. 8 with photos of themselves, ultrasound images and their dog alongside little “Mom” and “Dad” items.

“We are beyond ecstatic,” the couple shared as they announced that their first child is expected in January.

They explained that they had kept the pregnancy private for the first 20 weeks, allowing themselves time to enjoy the experience before sharing it publicly with their millions of followers.

Now, they say they are ready to bring their audience along for the journey.

Their IVF Journey Wasn't Easy

The announcement carries particular weight because Hannah and Shane have spent years talking openly about their attempts to start a family.

The couple began publicly documenting their fertility journey in 2023 after undergoing testing and preparing for IVF. During that process, they shared difficult updates, including news that Shane's fertility testing showed zero viable sperm.

After years of unsuccessful attempts, the couple ultimately took a break from the process. In January 2026, they revealed that they had decided to try again after stepping away from the journey for several years.

Their latest announcement marks a dramatic and emotional turn in that story.

Shane Plans to Document Fatherhood

Shane is already planning a new way to share the experience with his followers.

The 34-year-old launched a baby blog alongside the pregnancy announcement, where he plans to document the journey into fatherhood.

The couple also said they want to be intentional about how much of their child's life they share online. While they have built their platform around openly discussing their relationship and everyday life, they said they want to carefully consider what they make public once their baby arrives.

Shane's Life With Spinal Muscular Atrophy

Shane has spinal muscular atrophy type 2 and has used a wheelchair since childhood. His disability has been a central part of the couple's online storytelling, where they frequently discuss relationships, accessibility and life as an interabled couple.

With the arrival of their first child approaching, Shane has also acknowledged the questions and challenges that come with becoming a parent while living with a disability.

He has said one of his biggest concerns is figuring out how to navigate fatherhood and care for his child while working within the limitations caused by his condition. He has also spoken about the hurtful assumptions disabled people can face about whether they can or should become parents.

Turning Their Announcement Into Support for Others

Rather than focusing only on their own celebration, Hannah and Shane also used the announcement to recognize people still struggling to conceive.

The couple acknowledged that pregnancy announcements can be complicated for people who are going through infertility, drawing from their own experience with unsuccessful IVF.

They also joined the #BabylistItForward movement, inviting followers to share baby registries so they can help other expecting families with items they need.

A New Chapter for Squirmy and Grubs

Hannah and Shane married in September 2020 after meeting online and have spent years allowing followers into their lives through YouTube, TikTok and other social platforms.

Now, their audience will get to watch them prepare for a completely different role.

After years of uncertainty, fertility treatments and difficult news, the couple finally has a baby on the way — and they appear ready to embrace the next chapter one step at a time.
