Maria Bartiromo Makes Abrupt Exit From Fox News After 12+ Years!
Fox News announced Thursday, September 3, that the longtime anchor is no longer with the company, ending her more than 12-year tenure with the network. Fox did not provide a specific explanation for the departure, calling it a business decision.
The announcement came as a surprise to viewers because Bartiromo had remained one of the network’s most recognizable business and political personalities.
Her Shows Are Already Being Rebranded
Bartiromo was the longtime host of “Mornings With Maria” on Fox Business, as well as “Maria Bartiromo’s Wall Street.” She also anchored Fox News Channel’s “Sunday Morning Futures.”
Following her departure, Fox is moving quickly to restructure the programs.
“Mornings With Maria” has been renamed “Mornings With FOX Business” and will feature rotating anchors. Her Friday evening program, “Maria Bartiromo’s Wall Street,” is now “FBN’s Wall Street,” with Cheryl Casone hosting this week before the network moves to a rotation of anchors.
Jason Chaffetz is also scheduled to temporarily take over “Sunday Morning Futures” while Fox searches for a permanent replacement.
Her Final Appearance Came Weeks Ago
Although Fox announced her departure on September 3, Bartiromo had not been on the air for several weeks.
Her last known broadcast appearance was August 9. Fox’s own archives list a “Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo” episode from that date as her most recent Sunday program.
Her absence had already prompted questions among viewers, but the network did not announce her departure until September.
From the “Money Honey” to Fox
Before becoming a major Fox personality, Bartiromo built her reputation at CNBC, where she spent roughly two decades covering Wall Street.
She became widely known as the “Money Honey” and made television history in 1995 as the first journalist to report live daily from the floor of the New York Stock Exchange.
Bartiromo joined Fox Business in 2014 as its global markets editor and went on to host several prominent programs. Her interviews eventually expanded well beyond finance, with politicians, business leaders and presidents regularly appearing on her shows.
