Reese Witherspoon Says Women Need to Learn AI

Reese Witherspoon is urging women to get familiar with AI now, saying it’s important not to get left behind as the technology spreads through work and filmmaking. She argued that women are using AI less often than men and pointed to research suggesting women may be underrepresented in AI adoption and workplace support.

What she said

Witherspoon said she asked 10 women at a book club how many used AI, and only three raised their hands. She followed that by saying the “AI revolution has begun” and that she wants to learn as much as possible and share it with others.

Why she’s pushing it

She has framed AI as a practical skill, especially for women whose jobs could be automated or reshaped by the technology. She also said AI will be a major part of the future of filmmaking, which makes the issue especially relevant to entertainment workers.

The reaction

Her comments sparked backlash from people who worry about AI’s environmental costs, labor impact, and overhyped promises. Witherspoon later addressed the criticism and clarified that she still believes women should be involved in the conversation.
